COMPLETE YOUR KARMA

Synopsis

Completion of karma is the process of systematically eliminating all karma. It yields complete, perpetual contentment, nothing left to do or undo.

The steps are:

1.      Go to the source of karma to get a glimpse of current karma in its elemental state.

2.      Pray to the positive forces (God) to understand how to use what you have seen.

3.      With God's help, follow through with whatever action is required, no matter how difficult it may initially appear.

Absolute loyalty and an unshakable resolve to complete all your karma are essential for success.

Belief must develop into trust, then trust develops into unflinching faith .

It is like climbing the North face of Mt. Everest; where the utmost skill, vigilance, determination, and the support of nature are required. The slightest hesitation or distraction could cost lifetimes of spinning your wheels in search of evanescent pleasures before you get another opportunity to see the value in exercising the choice to complete your karma.

Explanation

Why was I born?

Philosophers ponder “Who am I?”, and end their days disconnected and discontented. The deeper question is “Why was I born?”, or "Why am I an embodied soul?"

Many who have come to our house (HolisticVegetarianHouse.org) have come to the conclusion that we begged for a body and environment to work out karma and thereby complete the cycle of cause and effect.. Karmic absolution is working out all karma. It is the goal of life, where we are no longer affected by the cycle of cause and effect.

Do you want happiness or contentment?

Most people pursue happiness through sensorial and sexual pleasures.   It takes a lot of effort to continually re-create happiness this way, so some of them eventually decide that these modes are not fulfilling.   If they seriously ponder the question of reincarnation, they realize that the pursuit of happiness leads to endless cycles of births and deaths.

We call the pursuit of happiness karmic resolution.   It is like rearranging the contents of a heavy backpack without lightening the load. In contrast, karmic absolution lightens the load and gives the lasting contentment that only comes from greater spiritual awareness and effulgence.   Most people prefer karmic resolution modes because they do not know any better.   They believe that the play of illusions is real. Their incessant attempts to rearrange their backpacks produce less and less happiness.  Most often, they inadvertently add to the load, or they imbalance it so much that they stumble and fall.

The pursuit of happiness is most successful when we learn how to go to the source of karma to find out what is in the backpack and how to rebalance it.   Even with perfect guidance, we eventually get tired of pursuing temporal happiness. At this point we start to combine some absolution, for lasting contentment, along with resolution, with its fleeting happiness.   (Think of the self as three spheres stacked on top of each other, like a child’s drawing of a snowman.   The sexual sphere is the lowest one, the spiritual sphere is at the top, and the sensorial sphere is in the middle , connecting the sexual and spiritual. Mind, body, intellect, energy, and other resources at our disposal function in all three spheres.)

After trying both resolution and absolution modes for some time, we eventually find that karmic resolution does not give perpetual satisfaction, and we decide to focus more on karmic absolution.   Why bother with fleeting tastes of happiness with diminishing returns in one direction (resolution), when we find cumulative and lasting contentment in another direction (absolution)?

How do I work out karma?

Daily travel to the source of karma , plus prayer and directed action to complete your karma, are what we call "zero residue karma".   No guru outside of yourself can guide you to the source of karma, but a rare mentor who is very familiar with his or her own path to the source of karma can be of assistance in helping you define your path.   A supportive environment, such as our home in San Diego (HolisticVegetarianHouse.org), may also prove valuable.

The struggle between positive and opposing forces has been a persistent theme in literature and drama throughout human history, and for good reason.   The positive forces dispel illusions to help you find your center.   They give life and assistance in evolution. The opposing forces spin webs of illusion and distract you from your center.

In any attempt to complete our karma, positive forces test us and impel us to exercise freedom of choice, and opposing forces try to control us through “TOP’s” – Temptation Overpowers and Plays games with us:

  1. Temptation: Unless we are extremely alert, we fall prey to temptation, which grows from a minor distraction to a major compulsion. Dangerous desires are not a problem if we can foresee the effect of following them. If you love the taste of peanuts, but you are violently allergic to them, you are not tempted by them.
  2. Overpowers: Succumbing to the effects of temptation allows opposing forces to overpower you and hold you captive to their whims.
  3. Plays games: When you are overpowered by desire, there is still a chance to recognize your disease and break the habit, whether it is tobacco, alcohol, sex, or workaholism. However, if you are addicted to the point that you do not recognize your addiction, then you are being played with, like a cat playing with a mouse. This is the state of most people, who are so caught up in the material world that even if they consider themselves spiritual, they interpret spirituality as a means of enhancing the wealth, status, or worldly pleasures.

True spirituality is not opposed to material comfort and success, but it runs by very different laws. For example, in the material world we expect to receive in proportion to what we give. In the spiritual world, giving must be without expectation of reward. The most blatant sign of spiritual corruption is charging money for so-called spirituality, which is what most "spiritual" and religious groups do routinely.

By traveling to the source of karma we can get a snapshot of karmic flow at that instant. We then pray to understand what we have seen, and with the help of the highest positive forces (God), we learn to distinguish between truth and falsehood.   We need divine intervention to know how to use the resources at our disposal. Glimpsing the source of karma is a great privilege and gift, but it may be beyond our comprehension. It is as if we have been given some flour, milk, sugar, and butter, but we don't have the recipe. Only with prayer and God's intercession do we learn how to mix it properly and bake a cake. Whether a wedding cake, a birthday cake, or a tea cake, it must be appropriate for the occasion. Our recipe for action must be appropriate to take care of our karma for that moment; it must be the right piece to fit into our karmic puzzle.

The material world, while being identifiably different, is only a minuscule representation of the entire cosmos, all of which is truly spiritual. In fact, without the sustenance of the spirit, the cosmos would not exist. Our awareness expands progressively as our karmic burden is reduced. When all our karma is absolved, our awareness is unlimited.

What is true for you may be false for me.   What is true for you today may be false for you tomorrow.   That is why frequent checking with the source of karma is essential.

We are free to choose between karmic resolution and karmic absolution.  There is nothing wrong with the path of resolution. In fact some resolution is necessary before we can pursue absolution. First we must be able to walk with good balance and strength before we can run. The higher we rise, the more the positive forces test our loyalty, and the more the opposing forces want to sap our energy.   Opposing forces can tantalize with the promise of happiness.   They cannot help us rise above good and evil, because they themselves are trapped.   Only through the positive path can we rise to states above the eternal play of positive and opposing forces.

Opposing forces can never be completely eliminated.   In fact, they are necessary for evolution, just as friction is necessary for walking.   Try walking on slick, wet ice.   Running requires better traction than walking.   Good is only good when contrasted with evil, and evil is only evil when contrasted with good.   You rise above this duality on the road to completing your karma.

What is God’s role in completing my karma?

Three men from a small and distant town heard about the great city of Los Angeles.   The first bought a cheap old sedan and drove there alone.   The second wanted to show off, and bought a flashy sports car to get there.   The third hired a limo with a wise and well-traveled friend as driver. He told his driver friend, “I’ve heard about this great city of L.A., but you know me and you know what is good for me.   Please take me wherever you think best.”

The first two men got to L.A., and enjoyed it at first, but they soon tired of it, and drove off to Houston, which they heard was more beautiful.   They continued from place to place, but found each one unsatisfying after a while, and finally got exhausted and fed up with aimless driving.   The third man enjoyed the road from his limo.   His friend took him all over the continent, show him many beautiful mountains, lakes, and beaches, as well as the best of each city.   He laughed often, and never tired of the journey.

The first man bought a cheap car because he did not know he could easily afford a limo.   He felt unworthy of God’s help.   The man with the flashy sports car thought that impressing people was the way to happiness.   The third man simply prayed, “Dear God, you know everything.   Please take me wherever you think best.”

For someone who has resolved to practice karmic absolution, "Give us this day our daily bread" means "Give me guidance today to clear my karma of the day." In order to progress at his speed of enlightenment, he prays for help in completing his karma. He does not need to ask for health, wealth, knowledge, or assistance from others. Everything he needs to complete his karma comes automatically when his prayer reflects the highest purpose of life. The source of karma and divine grace give him the ability to distinguish between positive and opposing forces. He performs the day's action as a loving sacrifice to God (positive forces), and he ends the day in complete contentment.

Summary

Happiness is sensorial and sensual/sexual, and temporary in nature. Contentment is spiritual and permanent in nature. We can complete our karma by traveling to the source of karma, and communing constantly with our highest God for help in carrying out the prescribed actions. We offer every thought and action as a joyous sacrifice, and travel at our speed of enlightenment, enjoying increasing contentment along the way. We enjoy an intimate, frictionless connection with everything in the universe. All desires requiring any form of embodiment are fulfilled, so we have no need for rebirth in any other vehicle or any other state of being. Time, in fact, ceases to exist, because time itself is an illusion artificially created by embodied souls to perpetuate the cycle of action and reaction
